From Te Awamutu VII to Ceti Alpha V

Starfleet AcademyAbraham Wood was born just across the river from Starfleet Academy. His parents always wanted him to be a doctor and stay in the city of San Francisco and not follow his friends that went off to join Starfleet. He was a good researcher and always had an interest is the science and a yearning for exploration.

To his parents disappointment or really a fear of losing their only boy to the stars Abe joined the Academy and majored in Exobiology which is the biological science concerned with living alien organisms and minored in Astrophysics, which is a branch of astronomy that deals with the physics of astronomical objects in the universe.

After graduating from the Starfleet academy head of his classes of 2252, he took on a research post on Antos IV, in the Antos system, in a small Starfleet observation facility where they studied cellular metamorphosis.

Abe would spend his spare time hiking and spelunking in the deep caves created by the local energy-controlling species known as giant dry-worms. He quickly became an expert at spelunking and cave exploration and craved to be in nature and to test his limit of physical endurance. He liked to flirt with danger at the same time he liked to study this mysterious type of land formation within the caves. He was known to tackle huge vertical drops, sometimes thousands of meters deep, which earned him the nickname Shaft form his colleagues and admirers.

After having one too many close calls with dry-worms Ensign Abe Wood took a starship posting as Junior Research Officer on the USS Grissom (NCC-638) under the command of the ship's doctor,  Lieutenant Commanders Bianca Wilder. They became good friends and colleagues and when Doctor Wilder was asked to transfer to the USS Reliant as Chief Medical Officer she asked that Abe be her Senior Research Officer.

    USS Reliant

In 2282, Abe and Bianca, prevented a potential epidemic at the Symbalene Blood Burn by treating personnel at the Federation observation post on Te Awamutu VII. Bianica rose again to fame when shortly thereafter, she became the first Federation doctor to save the life of a Gorn.

As of 2282, Terrell held the rank of Captain, and was commanding officer of the USS Reliant. In that year, they were assigned as election monitors on planet Mestiko. When troops loyal to the mar-Atyya threatened to use deadly force to stop the voting, Terrell was able to talk down the troop leader and, via a global newslink, ensure the voting was allowed to continue.

Three years later Captain Clark Terrell and the crew were assigned to support Project Genesis, surveying planets is search of a suitable testbed for the Genesis Device. While surveying the surface of planet Ceti Alpha V - which they had believed to be Ceti Alpha VI - Terrell and his first officer, Pavel Chekov were captured by Khan Noonien Singh, who had been exiled there eighteen years earlier.

Terrell was interrogated by Khan and successfully commandeered the Reliant.  Khans voice came over the ships com, "I would like every crew member that wishes to live to come immediately to the transporter room. There will be no tolerance for hostility of any kind."

Lieutenant Wood knew that Khan had all of the information on the awesome potential of the Genesis project and knew that he had to be stopped at any cost. He knew that those scientists on Regula I space station were just sitting ducks. They needed to be warned.

JTKJohn Thomas Kyle was a human Starfleet officer who served in the as transporter and operations officer aboard the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701). He was very aware of what Kahn was capable of and the kind of revenge he would be seeking.  On the Reliant, John  was the ships Communications Officer and was relaying as much information as he could to the ships science deck without being caught.

Abe kept close to Doctor Wilder knowing that she would not stand for any kind of interference to the Genesis project and any kind of action toward her friends on Regula I. He attempted to reason with her and to calm her down knowing that their captives would not care if they lived or died.

KhanAll 185 crew members crowded into the corridor leading to the transporter room and 6 at a time they were sent in to beam down to Ceti Alpha V. Suddenly Khan and three of his genetically-engineered henchmen rushed around the corridor and went right for Doctor Wilder. Khan reached for her neck and lifted her of the ground to bring her to eye level to his. "tell me about Genesis" he summoned.

"know... nothing!" she gurgled with all of the air she could get expel out of her crushed airway. He threw her to the ground and then intensely stated "you will tell us what you know" and then ordered them to take her to the medical lab. Abe stepped forward and helped her up off the ground staring at Khan with great hate in his eyes. Khan smiled and said "I have just thought of a way to make you talk" as he grabbed Abe's arm and placed a hand phaser under his chin. He then led him to the transporter and commander the man standing at the teleporter controls to Reliant"set coordinates to 40,000 kilometer into deep space on my order" he again looked at the Doctor who had broken down in tears at this point and said " Genesis" she collapse to the floor yelling "I know nothing of the project... honest!!" Khan raised his hand and Abe's body dematerialized from the transporter. The Doctor pounded on the floor yelling "I was never given clearance, they told NO ONE!"

Khan turned and walked out of the room whispering "I would have told no one" as the door closed behind him.
