The New Corbomite Maneuver

James David Bailey is the great grandson of Ambassador David Bailey who was a navigator on the USS Enterprise alongside Captain James T Kirk back in the late 2260's.

Bailey graduated from Starfleet Academy in 2406 and was assigned to the re-commissioned USS Carolina which was a fitting post because it was also the first ship that his great-grandfather served on as lieutenant junior grade.

James was a very promising officer but had troubles focusing and controlling his passions.

Later his first year, the USS Carolina was contacted by Commander Balok of the Fesarius to request that James Bailey would accompany him for two months as part of a cultural exchange. During this time James was trained in and educated by advanced learning techniques and was also given the opportunity to mind meld with his great-grandfathers memory bank.

Balok sent James back to the USS Carolina with a new focus and a abundance of knowledge about the universe and an inner focus. And by earning himself a couple of medals and a promotion in the process, as well as high recommendations by his commanding officer.

During the end of his second year with the U.S.S. Carolina, James was noticed by Starfleet and in these hard times, was given a command position of his own star ship. The U.S.S. Yukon was one of the many re-commissioned Constitution class ship that were needed to help bring balance to this part of the galaxy.

When the USS Alaska was finished being built James Bailey was asked if he wanted to Command this new vessel even though it was not quite up to Starfleet standards with basic components and upgradable weapons.

The USS Alaska saved the crew a number of times and the Lieutenant Commander Bailey was given a 400 crew vestal, christened the USS Canadian for all of his bravery and service.

Bailey worked his way up the ladder after accepting and completing mission after mission and getting himself, his crew and his ship out of many dangerous situations. The call finally came from Admiral Quinn to promote him to Vice Admiral and with his commission of his own Galaxy Class. In his heart he had wanted to fly a Tactical Escort Retrofit but an Exploration Cruiser meant a lot of responsibility.

James had a great love  for anything 23rd Century. Captain Kirk was his hero and all of the stories that his uncles and his Grandfather told him had made Starfleet the only choice for him. It was because of this knowledge and his training on 23rd Century technology and weapons that made him a great pick for what was next to come. 

James was asked to join the Canadian Federation son after because his mother was from the United Earth's Nation-State of Canada. He felt a devoted loyalties toward this group of friends but soon after he joined a strange thing happened to him. He was approached by a member of Section 31 and his commanding officer Admiral Quinn to discus being involved in a Starfleet Intelligence Section 31 joint venture called Project Christopher. The idea was in order to put the Federation on the offensive on the war with the Klingons that they needed to start recruiting Captains from the past. The only way to do this in order to not affect the time continuum was to rescue captains just before their demise. That way there would be no future to alter and the Starfleet has a great resource of data and evaluations in order to choose exceptional candidates and the exact moment of the death. In some cases down to a fraction of a second.

Admiral Quinn and Admiral Bailey agreed to move forward with the plan after meeting the first young Vulcan recruit KATRA. There is something to be said for giving a person another chance at life. The next day Bailey travelled to the Traelus System where Section 31 had set up a slingshot gate to travel into the past.

This new posting would allow him to spend part of his life recruiting and training in the 23rd century and the other half as a Fleet Admiral helping his new fleet The TOS Veterans fight in the 25th Century.

The Ghost Fleet, as they became known as through the Intelligence agencies is stationed on the Mariner 10 Spacestation in a nebula close to Sol System. Any advancements in technology and it is updated immediately in the 23rd Century to get another 150 years use out of it.

Admiral Quinn offered to sort things out with the Canadian Federation but James felt the need to offer his resignation personally to the Fleet Council. As James committed to take on the position of Fleet Admiral for the TOS Veterans, he was given a thank you from Admiral Quinn by commissioning him a Defiant class Tactical Escort Retrofit. This Ship was christened the U.S.S. Dawson.
