    Savip Character Bio

“Captain, we have to evacuate the ship now!”

‘WARP CORE CONTAINMENT FAILURE IN 3 MINUTES’

“Lieutenant Commander Summers, you have a family.  I do not.  It is logical that I stay to give you and the crew enough time to reach minimum safe distance.”

    “Captain...”

    “Commander, you have your orders!”

Summers left the bridge and ran to the escape pod bay, leaving Savip alone on the command deck. Savip began overriding the default warp core containment program, never designed for stresses of this type.

‘WARP CORE CONTAINMENT FAILURE IN 90 SECONDS’

Savip’s fingers flew across the console, attempting to manipulate the magnetic fields by hand, holding the warp core together by sheer force of will.  Suddenly, there was a massive KRUMP as another explosion occurred deep inside the ship.

    ‘WARP CORE FAILURE IMMINENT!’

Too many of the magnetic restraints were out of alignment. The warp core was breaching beneath her fingers.  The escape pods would be caught in the explosion.  She had failed.

Suddenly she felt hands grabbing her from behind.

“Commander Summers!” But as she turned around, she realized it wasn’t her XO, it was someone in Starfleet combat armor, who rapidly pulled her through a glowing white portal of some kind.

Savip’s fading dream of her failure to save the crew of the USS Bonestell at Wolf 359 left her shaken, as it has every night since her “rescue.”  She still has not adjusted to the fact that she had been brought forward in time to 2409, 40 years in the future.  For her, Wolf 359 was just a few days ago, but for her...Rescuers?...Wolf 359 was several generations ago.  She had taken command of the USS Bonestell 2 years before the Battle of Wolf 359 from her classmate Captain Janeway, who is now, she is told, an Admiral nearing retirement.

She knows time travel is possible; it is, after all, a whole course at Starfleet Academy.  A course on how to avoid it, and how to minimize the damage when it occurs.  And here is a special operations team, wandering back through time, rescuing the “best and brightest” of Starfleet moments before their untimely deaths.  Logic dictates this is a very intelligent move, saving the most valiant of Starfleet’s officers.  But after nightmare after nightmare, she is not sure she is up to the task of fighting the Borg again.

“Logic, like any tool, is not appropriate in all situations.”
