That's right, Zhen and Chan and Thaans! The very same Shaikatra you know and love from Sky Falls In Thunder's story! (realized her bio was empty, and hadn't written anything that guaranteed me a spot in literary hell, so here goes...) Butchered the hell out of it, but I don't think Rudyard would mind if he got the context. I'll have to fill it out later to the full length I suppose, because it's like a sidequest chain my brain won't let go of...
...I've walked with zhen an' thaan, laws what do they understand?
I've a neater, sweeter maiden in a cleaner, greener land.
On a course out Risa way
where the flyin' fishies play
Ship me somewheres east to Risa where the best is like the worst
an' their ain't no Prime Directive an' a Shen can raise a thirst
For the Horga'hn party's rollin' an that's were I'd like to be
at the Temtibi Lagoon lookin' lazy at the sea
On a course out Risa way
where the flyin' fishes play
an' the moons comes up like thunder out'er Catona 'cross the bay![/i]

Excerpt from "Letters From Q'o'noS", by Samantha T. Clementine, courtesy Crimson Tabard Publishing House.
First, the Vulcan Outlook: "The spear in your side is the spear in my side."
Not too far from the Human Outlook, which in the last century could be summarized thus: "The spear in your side must really hurt, but if we can cooperate, maybe we can get it out and learn something about each other."
As opposed to the Klingon Outlook of "The spear in your side is the spear in your side. So?"
Then there's the Romulan Outlook, "The spear in your side is the spear your father's father's father put in the side of my cousin's father's wife's mother's cousin's father, and I've been saving it just for you."
This contrasts with the Orion Outlook, which states "The spear in your side is just business, nothing personal."
Finally, we've got the Ferengi Outlook: "The spear in your side is a cheap replica, but I'm feeling generous so I'll give you two slips of gold pressed latinum for it."

Excerpt from "Below The Decks and Other Battleship Ballads", by Keplar Rudlinger, courtesy Kraznyjacket Press.
Below The Decks On Burnin' Wrecks
There's an Ensign in the Jeffries, all broke and burnt with blast
he kept the shields a-hummin', makin' lost connections fast.
An' the thin, grim, line o' Redshirts, who held the boarders to the last
Or Sickbay's sweet 'n' gentle bluebelles, who heard their dyin' gasps.
We ain't no fancy gentlemen, with Academy braggin' rights
Our manners is somewhat lackin', sometimes we gets in fights.
We 'on't want no holo-drama a-preachin' loud an' true
but we wouldn't mind some mention in an episode or two.
An a Cap'n who is true, o, a Cap'n who is true
For we carry out his orders a’bleedin' red an' green an' blue.
‘cause the plans o' poncy admirals, they always goes to shit
When disrupters come a howlin' and torpedoes start to hit.
So we just want a little dignittee an' mebbe some respect,
for we keep your ship a fightin', though she be a burnin' wreck.

Gently Shmun placed T'Lana on her feet. He tried to ignore the smooth, pale flesh exposed by her rent gown but the heat from the burning temple behind them was as nothing compared to the fever that the sight of her ignited in his blood. Quickly he turned away, gazing across the sands and trying to regain control.
"Forgive me, Priestess. I... I..."
"There is no offense where non is taken." He stiffened as T'Lana placed her hands upon his shoulders, her fingers lightly tracing the smooth, firm musculature. He turned back to her, striving to deny what he felt, unable to resist.
"Priestess.. we... we must not! This is passion, not logic!"
She slapped him, her eyes flashing. "Do you deny the fire that burns in your blood? Where is the logic in denying what must be? You are the master of my heart. You, and you alone." She stepped close to him and of their own volition his arms encircled her. He felt the flutter of her breath upon his chest and knew that all was lost.
"But... this is improper."
T'Lana looked up at him, her eyes reflecting the eternity in the stars above.
"If this improper, then I do not wish to be proper."
