I thought The Next Geeration was the spinnoff? I think it went Good Times, Maude, the Jeffersons and then The Next Generation.

Another TV season, another Star Trek series pitch. I believe CBS has said that ever since "Enterprise" went off the air, not a pitch season has gone by without some high profile person pitching a new Star Trek themed project.
I think this one will, in the end get the same response as all the others. "Thanks, but not at this time."
I don't think we'll see Star Trek return to the TV screen until the JJ Abrahms movie series has run it's course as neither Paramount or CBS want to undercut one another - or have another bout of what they termed 'franchise fatigue'. The JJ Trek cast has signed for three films (and if number two does well, I'm sure they'll at least do the third - beyond that, who knows); and I also think that after the JJ Trek feature film series concludes; any future TV project will go forward in that universe.
But, time will tell.

Only thing I'm hoping for is.. a Klingon theme..
have Worf join the empire.. I can see him in a old run-down beat up Bird of Prey..
though I hope in every episode he won't say "Today is a good day to die"
